The Cannon River Wilderness Area consists of approximately 850 acres of wooded river valley. The park is located 4 miles north of Faribault and extends along both sides of the Cannon River to a point about 5 miles south of Northfield.

South entrance: 3471 151st Street East, Faribault
North entrance: 13996 Cannon City Blvd, Northfield

Cannon Wilderness Park features

  • Five miles of hiking and horseback trails
  • Picnic area and shelter
  • Port-a-potty (May through October) 
  • No running water 
  • Wood beam footbridge across the Cannon River
  • Four primitive campsites
  • Canoe launch to the Cannon River
Cannon Wilderness Rules and Regulations
  • 3-day maximum stay
  • The sites are first come basis; no reservations
  • Trash removal is not be provided. Anything brought in needs to be removed (This includes all items brought in.)
  • Fire ring at each site (follow DNR rules on firewood)
  • Cannot burn any wood from the park
