Only Rice County residents/property owners may dispose of waste at the Solid Waste facility. No out-of-county waste will be accepted. The gate attendant will verify load with proof of payment. Credit cards will also be accepted at the gate and scale, though wait times may be longer.
A licensed hauler is recommended for your waste disposal needs. Contact a licensed hauler if you are in need of services.
Rice County residents and property owners are encouraged to use the pre-pay system if they wish to self-haul their items to the facility. This system reduces wait times at the facility while allowing a contactless payment method. It also allows self-haulers to remain in their vehicle except when disposing of their items into the appropriate container/area.
To access this pre-payment system, visit the Online payments/scheduling page.
Anyone needing assistance with pre-pay online system, wishing to use a different form of payment or with questions should email [email protected] or call 507-332-6833.
Single-sort residential recycling
Rice County has a single-sort recycling program. County residents can contract with local haulers for their recycling or can bring it to the Solid Waste Facility free of charge during normal business hours. Some items can be recycled for a fee.
Waste Wizard: A proper place for waste
Rice County introduces Waste Wizard to assist with determining how and where to dispose of or recycle your waste. Check Waste Wizard to find out where to properly dispose of your items
Recycling electronic waste
When electronic waste — like TVs and computers — are put into the landfill, harmful chemicals and heavy metals can get into our water supply and air.
As a result, Minnesota state law requires proper disposal of these items. The Solid Waste Facility takes these items, in most cases for a fee. Many businesses also offer related recycling programs, often for free.
