Demolition Waste

The Rice County Solid Waste Facility accepts materials from demolition of buildings, including the following items:

  • Old building materials, including concrete, bricks and rocks
  • Plastic/PVC plumbing pipes
  • Fiberglass, ceramic and cast iron sinks and tubs
  • Untreated lumber, excluding pallets
  • New sheet rock scraps
  • Siding and insulation that is not bagged
  • Windows, linoleum, and old ceiling, flooring and wall tiles

When arriving at the entrance to the Solid Waste Facility, pull onto the scale to weigh your vehicle, notify the clerk by using the speaker that you have demolition materials and follow the demolition material signs to the dump site. When you are ready to leave, you will again weigh your vehicle on the scale and then come into the office to pay the fees. 

The following items are not accepted as demolition materials. Check with the Solid Waste Facility on how to dispose of these items or use the Waste Wizard.

  • New construction waste
  • Treated lumber or sheetrock
  • Carpet
  • Recyclables
  • Slate siding
  • Hazardous waste
  • Household trash
  • Recyclables
  • Plastic bags or plastic sheeting
  • Buckets, caulking tubes or paint pails
  • Yard waste
