Department overview
The Parks and Facilities Department plans, manages and conducts the physical operation, maintenance and capital renewal of Rice County buildings, parks and other facilities.

The mission of the Parks and Facilities Department is to operate and maintain Rice County facilities efficiently in support of the optimum health, safety and productivity of county employees and residents. This department also operates and maintains parks that facilitate outdoor recreational activities and the enjoyment of Rice County's natural environment.


Rice County facilities

  • Government Services Building
    320 Third St. NW, Faribault
    The main county government building, houses the Board of Commissioners meeting room as well as the Social Services, Public Health, Assessor, Finance, Human Resources, Recorder's, Property Tax and Elections, and Planning and Zoning offices.

  • Courthouse
    218 Third St. NW, Faribault
    The courthouse is also home to the County Attorney's Office and Court Administration as well as Rice County District Court.

  • Law Enforcement Center/Jail
    118 Third St. NW, Faribault
    Rice County Sheriff's and Community Corrections (probation) personnel office in the building. The main jail is also located at the facility.

  • Jail Annex
    2119 W Hwy. 60, Faribault
    The annex houses minimum security inmates and is where visiting hours are held.

  • Highway Department
    610 20th St. NW, Faribault
    County engineering staff are located at the Highway Department building. The site also features a garage for the department's vehicles, which includes a fleet of snowplows.

  • Solid Waste Facility and Recycling Center
    3800 E 145th St., Dundas
    Location of the county landfill, Recycling Center and Hazardous Waste Facility.
